I recently got a spam in my email, about some new up and coming video on enlightenment. It was about 30 seconds long and simply has the words "beliefs, prejudices, and illusions, lose them"..as if they where bad things. From my perspective now it is absolutely misguided. those words define aspects of Human nature, and in the context of that media, they where valued as negative, but they still retain value even if that value is negative, and you cannot eliminate a prejudice with a prejudice, that isn't enlightenment, but rather illusion. Reality can be shaped by illusion. This video was spam, it doesn't bring anything new to the table, and in-fact it serves as another enforcer to the postmodern epistemological feudalism, many of the branches of the philosophical tree, now bear as fruit.
It's not necessarily the fault of philosophy. Feudalism is born from how much knowledge is now available with regard to a subject matter on the internet, the endless volumes of books, and written accounts of Human history, reaching far into the cradle of western civilization, with Homer's Odyssey and Iliad; infact human history is timelined on wikipedia.
I m tending to backtrack from philosophies which once appealed to me. They are based on ideals, paradoxes, that throw everything back on to the lap of the individual, and blames them largely for the c ndition of their own circumstance. The philosophies, and theologies, tend to frame desire as the principle culprit leading to human suffering. There is no doubt desire can lead to suffering. The only way to really get at this issue is to go into desire, with intellectual clarity, the individual can only be lead back through the door of their own desires, and for the most part it is a private matter.
Desiring not to desire is a rigid form of self denial, which can sometimes escalate suffering, or is simply, a mask an individual can blanket their own suffering with. In fact most of those systems of belief are build around emptying oneself of all meaning and desire, finding meaning in nothingness, losing your center as an individual, and becoming a part of a deviant reality of oneness, where You are one with all things. A center-less state of being, which paradoxically is opposite of human nature. The consciousness of the individual actually has to create that reality for themself. There are enough enforcers in culture for that reality, and ancient religious text older than the bible, which also enforces that reality across all social and economic classes, it makes no difference. The individual may actually exist in that state of consciousness for the reminder of their physical life. That works for some people, but I m too inquisitive to stay in that state of mind. Across all ontological fields, I would consider myself, to believe in Agnostic-Individualism.
I am going to continue this blog, and my promise to readers is to keep the text short a paragraph at a time to give my opinion on various issues.
